When is my parent roster? The parent rosters for the summer season will be uploaded in the Parent Roster tab early to mid October before the first competition day. Please make sure you are aware of your roster commitments (some are on consecutive weekends and some are scattered throughout the season) and arrange a swap with someone in your roster group if you are unable to carry out a duty. Roster swaps are arranged by using Team App.
How old do you have to be? The primary aim of Little Athletics is to provide a recreational activity for boys and girls, from the age of six to sixteen. Proof of age is required for all new athletes (i.e. those not previously registered with a WALA affiliated centre). We also run a Tiny Tots Program for children aged 3 to 5 years.
How can I register? New families should attend the Information Day, usually held on the first Saturday in September at the Wendling Road Clubrooms, Charles Riley Memorial Reserve in North Beach, to find out more about Little Athletics at Hamersley. All five clubs will be represented and you will be given a link to register online from home.
Returning families will be emailed a link late August to register in ResultsHQ.
We also accept mid season registrations after Christmas and winter cross-country enrolments.
Do I have to do a roster? All families will be asked to select a roster duty when they complete their online registration. The Centre offers a variety of roster options for parents with each family required to contribute about 15-20 hours over the season. If your child participates or is selected for a State event, there are additional rosters required for these events.
What does it cost to join?
This depends on which club you join, check here for more information.

Did you know that your summer registration fee also includes the winter cross country season?
When do you hold Little Athletics? We compete most Saturday mornings between October and March each year, starting at 7:30am in the morning and we normally finish by 11:30am (U7 to U9 usually finish by 10:00am). Our finish time is dependent on how many athletes attend competition days. There is a 3-4 week break over December / early January.
Where is Hamersley Little Athletics Centre situated? You can find us here.
What’s it like? Our Centre believes that perseverance, sportsmanship, and ‘personal best’ performances should be rewarded just as much as much as a high level of achievement. Our commitment is to make every family involved in the sport of Little Athletics feel welcome and to provide not only competition for our young athletes – but also an atmosphere of family participation and enjoyment.
Thank you in advance for making time available to help out at your club and the Centre. Without the enthusiastic help of all parents, Little Athletics as a family activity would not exist – a great club is formed from a great team of volunteers! Please offer your help at training sessions and competition days wherever possible – you are sure to enjoy the experience.

What happens if my child wants to pull out – do I get a refund? No. Once you have registered and paid your fees there are no refunds unless there is a long term injury and medical certificate – more information about this can be found under the Policy & Procedures tab. If your child is leaving our Centre we would appreciate you notifying our Registrar.
Training and Coaching: Clubs coordinate the training of their athletes, with most clubs training on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoons during the season. Training is included in your registration fee and is not compulsory, however clubs do appreciate the assistance of parents who are available to work with the club coaches to provide a well organised training program; assisting with set-up and pack away of equipment and to manage groups of children. No prior experience is necessary, just a willingness to get involved and support the coaches.
Can we miss a weekend or two? Yes of course, there is no requirement that your child competes every weekend, except if you are rostered to help that particular Saturday. Parents can swap rosters, but this must be arranged well in advance so that the competition is not impacted. Points do accumulate for completing the required number of events across the whole season, with end of season trophies awarded to the athletes with the highest accumulation of points. More information about trophies and awards is covered under the Awards and Hamersley Yellow Book tabs.
Do you ever compete at other venues? Yes, there are 3 or 4 state events which are normally held at the WA Athletics Stadium in Mount Claremont. These events are usually held over a Saturday and Sunday and our normal Saturday competition is unaffected.
If you travel interstate for holidays you are allowed to compete at another Little Athletics Centre. Check the Athletics Australia website for information. Remember to take your uniform and registration number with you.
What happens if my child’s results are wrong on the website?
Please email our Records Officer with your query. This will be checked against the result sheets and computer timing. Errors do sometimes occur during recording and data entry.
