The Role of Officials
Officials form a vital part of our competition at Hamersley. Without them, there would be no competition for our athletes. The sport of Little Athletics comprises many athletic events, so it is imperative that parents are well versed in the rules and adequately trained to understand how to officiate.
At Hamersley we will support parents in their role as an official. Please contact our officials Coordinator, ask at the Roster Tent or email us if you need any help or advice. Parents will receive assistance in the first two weeks of officiating (if required) and field sites are monitored regularly to ensure new parents are supported in their role.

At registration, parents select a roster duty which they undertake for the duration of the summer season. There are many roles to choose from and they vary in the time commitment required each week. Some roles operate weekly for a shorter duration; other roles are for a few hours but are scattered throughout the season, and some are less in number but are on consecutive weeks. This is to provide variety and flexibility for parents depending on their preferences.

Please note: There is no need to do the World Athletics Apprentice or Level 1 course at this stage, but obviously any further education opportunities are always good.
